Transracial adoption
I co-authored Listening to Adoptees: Race, Foster Care & Adoption, a continuing education course through Be the Bridge Academy that’s approved by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) for Approved Continuing Education (ACE) credit. Developed in collaboration with adoptees, this course centers their lived experiences and explores how race, identity, and systemic inequities shape the adoption and foster care journey.
Through my work with Be the Bridge — and my own experiences as a therapist and adoptive parent — I’ve seen how essential it is for caregivers and professionals to move beyond good intentions toward informed, compassionate action. This course offers meaningful insight, including practical tools, for anyone seeking to create environments where adoptees of color can feel truly seen, supported, and at home in their identities.
